20 Things About Me
Ever been mid-conversation with a friend, and they interrupt your story with ‘I DIDN’T KNOW THAT ABOUT YOU!’?
I swear, it happens to me all the time. Maybe I’m not much of a share-r (see bullet point #6 below for the reason behind that), but I like some transparency as we’re all getting to know each other.
So, here are 20 things you may or may not know about me.
I am predominately Italian American, 30% Irish, and the remaining 11% is Portuguese. So, basically I’m a lot of garlic, wild hair and strong emotions stuffed into a short body.
My eye color changed over the years. When I was in middle school, my eyes were violet. Now, they are a mixture of blue, grey, and green with this hazel-y burst around the pupil, so I have NO clue what to put on my license when it renews.
I love the gym. LOVE it. My parents met in a gym that my dad co-owned back in the 80’s, so our family has always been ‘gym people’ but I didn’t learn to like weight lifting until my mid-twenties. My parents gifted me three training sessions for my birthday. That was it. Love at first lift.
I have lived in NY State for 26 years, but went to university in southern Virginia. As soon as I go back to Virginia I get my oh-so-slight twang back; its very light. I do not have a strong NY accent unless I’m really riled up.
I have a stunting phobia of sharks. I have never had a close encounter, nor have I seen one in the wild, but I look for sharks in all bodies of water including swimming pools and some hot tubs. I am aware they don’t live in fresh water; I do know this.
I am a Myers Briggs INFJ, and Enneagram 9/wing 1. And I find that kind of stuff fascinating.
I speak conversational Italian, and am learning Korean. Progress on the latter is glacial, but still progress.
The scariest thing I’ve ever done is quit my full time job to run my own business. That was straight-up, stomach-churning, ‘I-feel-idiotic-for-doing-this’ terrifying. I like to do safe things. I like to have all my ducks in a row, and have extra ducks in reserve in case a shark eats the primary duckies. Quitting a paying job and doing my own thing was undoubtedly what God wanted, but I’d be lying if I said it was easy or comfortable.
I am allergic to raw almonds and soy. Roasted almonds are fine, but not the raw ones. And I’m not supposed to eat cheese, but I 100% have been eating cheese. #BeBetter2019 #TryingOverHere
My favorite movie is Gladiator.
The thing I’m most insecure about is my chin because no matter how much weight I lose, my chin is still a little on the chubby/soft side. I’m learning to love it. I’m most secure about my legs. They aren’t long by any stretch, but they’re freaking strong and a lot of sweat (and dad’s genes) went into that.
My favorite food is coffee (it is a food, its a bean). I take it with unsweetened almond milk and stevia, and as strong as possible.
I’ve been in three big car accidents. The first was when our car slipped on the ice and wrapped itself around a pole. The second was when I was came to an intersection and a car sheared my front bumper off. And the third was when a drunk driver swerved into my lane and hit me head on.
My favorite book is ‘The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.’
I can’t do math in my head, and never took Calculus or Physics. I CAN do my own taxes and budgeting, so I feel like it all evened out in the end.
I skied every week in the winter for 12 years. Then I turned 16, realized my knees were killing me, cold weather makes me sad, and then I accidentally ran over my mother on the slope. And I promptly gave it up and never looked back.
I have only been on a date with an American once. The other dates I have been on were with men who were born and raised outside of the U.S.
I will listen to all kinds of music except for country. The sound of country music makes me really agitated, and I have no idea why.
No tattoos, 3 piercings. I had 4 piercings but one got ripped out (seriously, on the way to church, I got hit with a Bible and it tore out…that’s a real story and yes it hurt).
My favorite oil is Sacred Frankincense, and I mix it with Myrrh and mush it on my face because it’s freaking bomb.
